A repurposing of an Item of Comfort.

Transforming a piece of my own history into a statement piece capable of telling a new story while doing so. With Jo-Ann’s Fabrics closing, I came into possession of several yards of Gold Jacquard Loom Fabric, and I had inspiration strike in the colder winter months of Michigan: I need a winter coat. I knew the Jacquard would be the exterior, but I decided to use a fleece blanket I had from my Undergraduate Studies as the lining. I utilized both sides of the blanket for the plaid accents on the sleeves and the interior insulating lining and the end result was an incredibly comfortable coat with two incredibly deep welt pockets on each side.
