A Piece of Clothing can Always be Tailored or Retrofit.
Post-Graduation, and after completing the Camino de Santiago as a pilgrim, I had undergone a tailoring in a sense, with a world view shifted toward reconstruction, reimagination, and an appreciation for taking the slow route to a destination. I realized that many of the garments and articles I had produced could be improved upon or reshaped to better reflect what they were meant to symbolize, so I took it upon myself to meticulously seam-rip the pieces, laying them out and reimagining how connections were made and where the actual design logic would play out. It took time to properly source fabrics but the guiding principle was still sustainable reuse. I wound up recrafting a jacket, the over-hanging chasuble and shoulder cape, and the Nun’s robe, ensuring that each had a reversible aspect to their construction, which was equally challenging and rewarding when it all came together.
