Another batch of small bags, made in a similar vein as the Medium Bags (That is to say, Custom)

The piecing of the shells streamlines the process in such a way that I am able to visualize the final result much easier.

Part two of the commissioned works series, as more commissions come in and other individuals witness my work, whether that be at the booth in real-time or via Instagram, the work resonates with others, and that is truly all one can ask for. Still informal, catching the creative energy necessary to create while reserving the numbers for the 8 piles of bricks awaiting transformation (a request I will honor when I begin making large bags again, a task I think will go hand-in-hand with my expansion into Northern Michigan and other locations via Consignment)

This was an undertaking I stepped behind the wheel of with gusto, because as long as I have the materials, I will “make something shake”, as the saying goes. My only constraints are proving to be schedule-based, because there are only 24 hours in a day, but I am eager to create and to fulfill a few dreams here and there, so I make time.

This batch mirrored the medium bag method, in which I began to make more shells/exteriors of the small bags and would match them to the interior brick pattern when the time came. Again, this is placing the action in the hands of the consumer, and in that way, all I can do is utilize my architectural eye and my splendid hands to conjure a vision of a bag they will love.

For these past two, the Chevron Pattern, with its vectors and sharp directional draw, has reigned supreme. One in colors similar to my other larger bag and another taking on a deeply earth toned palette. As long as the math checks out, this pattern is a breeze, and the sheer difference between the two highlights the lengths to which material choice can change the perception of a bag.

Another few were done either shortly prior to the market, or literally on the spot. With an electrical outlet and my eyes, I was able to churn out a Vertical English Bond Brick Bag, as an accompanying twin to a Horizontal Warm-Toned Bag that got hungrily purchased as its volcanic energy caught the eye of a market-goer.

Going forward, I am also altering the Small Bag Pattern to properly incorporate the tag into the design, I have had far too many needles break in my endeavors of sewing the final seam through 8 layers of fabric. It was either alter the design or spring for a new machine, and while the latter is inevitable, for the time being I think that having the loop incorporate the D-Ring and Clip for the Crossbody Strap just makes sense.
