Let’s turn scraps into spectacle.
Creating something new and useful, a reimagining of Interior Design Elements as Useful, Bespoke Items.
A Quilted Grocery Bag - Designed for Substantial Lists
My primary goal for this bag was to be one fit for constant usage, while also possessing an interior quality that would make passersby stop and ogle an otherwise mundane tote. A task as pedestrian as grocery shopping was the perfect nexus point of desires, especially considering that by bringing your own bags, you do your part in reducing the amount personal plastic consumption. As a person who often forgets my totes in the car, this substantial bag is hard to misplace. It is made in a traditional 2.5 inch square strip style, with patterns ranging from brocade to sparkling white, working in remnants from my Baroque-ism and SPI Thesis Garments. The outside has what would become a staple inclusion of these upcycled bags: a curtain fabric sample with two included display grommets to attach charms, keys, or tags to. It is an over the shoulder messenger type tote, one of a pair with the second possessing a herringbone pattern made from various indoor-outdoor water resistant upholstering fabrics meant to carry groceries that are prone to condensation.

Balance is vital for any shopper, so a second bag to carry on the other shoulder was necessary.
